Rutgers Marching Band 100th Anniversary
The Rutgers University Marching Band officially celebrates its 100th Anniversary September 25-26, 2015.
Alumni, parents, and friends of
the Marching Scarlet Knights are invited to commemorate this milestone by joining us at two special anniversary events:
Open Rehearsal & Cocktail Reception
FRIDAY, SEPTEMBER 25th
5:00 to 6:00 p.m. — Marching Band Open Rehearsal (optional)
BAND PRACTICE FIELD
6:00 to 8:00 p.m. — Cocktail Reception

Our cocktail reception has been moved from the Party Deck at the stadium to the Rutgers Visitor Center! The Kansas football team will be arriving later than expected and will need to use the stadium on Friday evening, so the marching band will move to their practice field across from the Visitor Center. Therefore we are changing our location and schedule in order to allow guests to view the marching band practice prior to the cocktail reception. Guests will be greeted by members of the 100th Anniversary Committee. Special guests from Mason Gross School of the Arts and Rutgers Athletics will attend, and after their rehearsal, Band Director Tim Smith and select undergraduate band members will stop by. But not to worry— this won’t be an evening of speeches! This smaller social gathering will provide a great opportunity to reconnect with old friends.
$40 per person. Registration is limited to 75 people.
Includes food, wine and beer, non-alcoholic beverages, dessert, coffee and tea.
Pre-Game Tailgate Party & Halftime Show
SATURDAY, SEPTEMBER 26th
8:30 to 11:30 a.m., Game time 12:00 p.m.
Private Tent at Rutgers Block R Party — "Corral" area
Join us on Saturday for the anniversary bash! The Tailgate Party will take place in our own private tent on the corner of Sutphen Road and Scarlet Knight Way, in the "corral" area adjacent to the Yellow lot. This prime location will allow us to participate in the Scarlet Walk and be entertained by the Marching Scarlet Knights. The party will feature a full brunch buffet, along with unlimited beer and wine for adults 21 and over (ID required). Guest speakers include Dean George B. Stauffer, Mason Gross School of the Arts, and Athletic Director Julie Hermann — along with other special guests. The event also features band history displays, photo booth, trivia, and prizes!
$65 per adult, $45 per child 16 years and under.
Includes full brunch buffet, unlimited wine and beer, non-alcoholic beverages, dessert, coffee and tea.
Band alumni attending the Tailgate Party are invited to participate in the 100th Anniversary halftime show (details to be provided with event confirmation).
